Feature

Ooh! So excited that we got another little mention in the latest SHOP 4 Kids magazine!

And the lovely little write-up they had for me in the directory section...

Speaking of which, some exciting news! Those owls that you see featured? While I've written the tutorial to show you how to make your own owls, I've also been invited by Thread Den to teach them as part of the cupcake decorating classes they're running.

I'll be teaching two classes - one on buttercream techniques, and one on fondant. They're pretty hands-on and fun, and suit beginners, so come along and we'll have a ball! Dan, from Thread Den, will be listing the details shortly, but they'll be held over 2 evenings in October.

Also, I'll be hanging out with the kiddies this school holidays - yes we're having a Kids cupcake decorating class - and TEA PARTY! Suitable for kids 6 years and older, you can drop them off for an hour, wander around the lovely Brunswick St., then  pop back again to join us for delicious little cupcakes your kids have decorated with love. A lot of love. ;-)

Details can be found here:

Well, then! Here's what I've been up to lately:

Joy

Before I go ahead with the latest post, thanks to the lovely Kate & Rose, I just found out we had a teeny tiny mention in yesterday's Sunday Age!

You can read the full article here: http://www.theage.com.au/entertainment/about-town/ware-to-go-20120602-1zof3.html (scroll down to the "Arts and Crafts" section). Our friends from the Southside Vintage market and North Melbourne Market got a lovely mention too!

Now back to cakery!

I got a lovely "thank you" recently from a lovely client, Shikha, for whom I made cupcakes for her mentor as a goodbye present.

"Your cupcakes were amazing, they were a HIT and all the teachers were so impressed that they've taken your phone  number...I've passed out your number and your website as well to them. Thank you so much!"

It's ALWAYS SO GREAT to get positive feedback, and NOTHING makes me happier than to make something I love for people who appreciate them as well!

These cupcakes were Red Velvet with cream cheese, and topped with black & white fondant birdies.

Nothing says Thank You better than a baked treat don't you agree?!

Ooh and in case you're wondering, these are the cookies-and-cream babycups the article was talking about!

Cookies and cream soldiers! Tennnnn HUT!

Hope & Glory

Some pics of what we've been up to in the last couple of weeks...

Orange buttercake with chocolate swiss meringue buttercream

Wasn't for a specific occasion, just a special treat for the family.
And boy it just melted in your mouth!!

Made these recently for Pink Ribbon Day.

Raised quite a bit for the McGrath Foundation! :)

Here're a couple others in the Typography series...

And the highlight of my week...seeing Buttercup Bakeshoppe in print!!

Our little cheeky chick features in the latest (Summer 2011) issue of SHOP 4 Kids!
Woohoo!
(If you must know, it's chocolate-cinnamon with royal icing. Yums!)

Seeya this Sunday at the North Melbourne market, where we'll have some lovely surprises, including a new citrusy Orange & Lemon cupcake! Summer bliss!
